A Transpacific Opportunity

The first FTA between Asia and America will allow Chile to strengthen its transoceanic platform proposal, either for services and exchange of goods.

National products will enjoy of tariff preferences that any other competitor will have, since this is the first Korea s FTA.

Korea registered a growth rate around 5.7% in the 90 s. Besides, it s the third economy in world according to its GDP, and the per capita income is about US$9,400.

It strengthens Chile s strategic interest in Asia, since it s the main destiny of national exports at a regional level, establishing a FTA model for the region.

 

The most important chapters are: initial provisions, trade of goods, rules of origin, customs procedures, trade appealing, safeguards, antidumping and countervailing duties, sanitary and phytosanitary issues, technical regulations and standards, investments and transborder services, temporary admissions for businessmen and women, competences, Government s purchases, intellectual property, transparency and management of the Agreement, difference solution and exemptions.
