Staying for a temporary period of time

Foreign travelers returning to the country for staying for a temporary period of time shall fulfill all general regulations on exports of goods, having the right to export any type of non prohibited good.

In Chile it does not apply duties or charges on exports, but goods must undergo other enforcement agencies control inspections, related to food, drugs, chemical products, etc., which can be previously carried out to export or when undergoing controls on goods exiting the country.

When carrying out procedures regarding exit of goods, foreign travelers shall cancel entry customs declarations in case those goods are included in the list of exit.

Since foreign travelers could have temporary brought in the country goods qualifying for exemptions, it will be necessary for them to cancel the entry declaration, usually the Temporary Admission of Goods for Tourists.

Customs shall compare the list of goods exiting the country with those previously declared, in order to verify the compliance of requirements for claiming exemptions.

Domestic goods carried by the traveler shall be subject to common regulations on exports.
